What is homeschooling?
In principle, the rule in the Netherlands is that a child is subject to compulsory education from the age of 5. Perhaps you, as a parent, have made the deliberate choice not to have your child attend a regular school and to homeschool. You are free to choose how you homeschool, as long as you follow a number of rules laid down by the Dutch government. Our Babysitting Angels are happy to offer you extra support. For example, they have studied at the Pabo and have experience in education.
How does homeschooling work?
There are no set guidelines for homeschooling. As a parent, you may shape the education to be provided for your child(ren) yourself. However, exemption from compulsory education is needed first; there are certain rules for this which you can find on the website of the central government.
How much does homeschooling cost?
If you have more questions about applying for or the cost of homeschooling, for example, the website of the Dutch Association for Homeschooling offers a lot of information. Through Charly Cares you can also ask a Babysitting Angel to help with homeschooling. You’ll have to pay this Angel the hourly rate listed in their profile.
